Fourteen Thousand Hugs

So, before yesterday it had been a long time since I wrote a blog post, and a long time since I’d checked my stats, so it was a massive, glorious shock to see that I’ve had more than 14000 page views since this lil’ site started back in April. Honestly, that’s ridiculous. Thank you so much! Hugs all round!

Judging by the page breakdown, it’s mostly from lovers of Calamity Jane and cheese, which is great, as those are two of my favourite things too.

As a thank you, I’ve posted a picture of the most bizarrely brilliant pizza I think I’ve ever had; the seasonal mezzo e mezzo from Zizzi’s. I was having lunch with my gran and simply couldn’t turn down the opportunity to have a pizza that was half regular pizza on a tomato base, and half pumpkin, speck ham and crumbled amaretti biscuit. AMARETTI BISCUIT!!! On a pizza! Oh, it was superb. It was one if those “that’ll never work” moments that takes you completely by surprise. Do try it, if you get the opportunity.

Have you ever had a really bizarre pizza that really shouldn’t have worked, but did? Let me know in the comments below!

      • So was it more like a dessert pizza? I know I like piccalilli and banana sandwiches so I’m prepared to give anything a go! I didn’t like custard and sweetcorn when I was in Singapore… that was a curious combination too far!

      • Piccalilli and bananas? I do have some piccalilli in the fridge… That really does sound bizarre! I guess it was a bit like having two courses in one, and I’m definitely up for having ham for dessert more often!

      • The sharpness of the piccalilli cuts the banana quite nicely! I also enjoyed a coffee flavoured beer by Dark Star Brewery… I was amazed at how delicious it was!

  1. One of my all-time favorites was a pear and pecan Gorgonzola. My friends and hubby were skeptical, but they wound up eating a great deal of it.
