This little jar holds all that is good in the world – garlic and mayonnaise
Ah, the condiment. Get it right and it completes a meal and makes it memorable. Get it wrong and it’s like a worrisome German vegetarian – I fear the worst. We’ve been dipping in and out of the Toasted Garlic Mayo from the Garlic Farm on the Isle of Wight for the past few days, and it is a truly magnificent mayonnaise. My Mum bought it at a farm shop in Sussex (I can get more details) at the weekend and it has graced every meal since. We’re having to ration it as there is only one jar! Imagine the most garlicky thing you’ve ever tasted. Garlic, probably. Now imagine that in mayonnaise form, with added garlic salt, infused in garlic juice and the tears of the Garlick Gods, and you have an idea of what we’re talking about. If you are in England, and you see Toasted Garlic Mayonnaise, do get it. You won’t regret it, and going back to your jar of Helman’s Regular will feel like a huge disappointment afterwards!
